Dear Mr. Grant:
The Board of Weld County Commissioners is in receipt of your May 24 letter regarding whether
Weld County had any land in the Southwest Weld County site for the St. Vrain Sanitation
District's office. After much discussion, the board has decided there is not any surplus land
available.
In developing the site, the county has anticipated a 30 to 40-year need in the area. With that
long-term planning in mind, we do not want to sell or give away land that most likely will be
needed in the future to keep all county functions in the area on a single campus-like setting. As a
result, no land is available for other entities. In addition, if the county started selling or giving
land away when developed sites are available literally across the road, we could be criticized by
private landowners that have land for sale in the immediate area.
We hope you understand our position on this matter. If you have questions, please call me at
970-356-4000, extension 4200.
Sincerely,
BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

Re: Southwest Weld County Annex
Dear Commissioner Geile,
St. Vrain Sanitation District has out grown its leased office space in Longmont, and is
planning to construct an office building within its Weld County service area. This building will
be approximately 5,000 square feet.
Upon consideration of a number of sites in the Del Camino area, it has occurred to us that
there would be an advantage to the public served by co-locating with Weld County
government functions. Also, there may well be some govemmental efficiency by having the
District and Weld County functions co-located.
Accordingly, does Weld County have one acre within its Southwest Annex site that would be
well situated for this District's offices, and under what terms would the county sell this site?
For any question or coordination, please contact Lee Lawson at 303-776-9570.
Very trul ours
