Dear Planning Department,
We oppose the expansion of the Podtburg Dairy (AmUSR-1144). At the
time of the last increase the dairy smell was negligible. Since then the dairy odor
is constant, worse in the summer and less in the winter. The number of flies has
also increased tremendously which necessitates spraying from April until the end
of October at considerable expense to us. The new stormwater containment
structures are built directly across the road from our property and if we ever
wanted to sell or subdivide some of our property that opportunity would now be
lost. A new structure would only make it worse.
2000 head of cattle on 80 acres is already considered dense so going to 3000
would make the problems previously mentioned (smell, flies, resale) worse.
I'm reluctant to interfere with a man's right to make a living but I also resent
the change in our living circumstances as a result of this proposal and its effect on
the neighborhood.
Please, consider this carefully.
Sincerely,
William D. Willcutts
