RE: APPROVE INCREASE FEE FOR SPECIAL TRANSPORT PERMIT
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, per the attached Resolution, dated April 14, 1993, the Board of Weld
County Commissioners and representatives of the oil and gas industry agreed to increase the
fee for special transport permits for transporting oil rig equipment over County roads when the
need arises due to extraordinary damage to county roads due to oil and gas drilling activity, and
WHEREAS, the amount of drilling activity has increased in Weld County and is
anticipated to continue for the immediate future, and
WHEREAS, the Board of Weld County Commissioners does not want the trust fund that
funds such damage to go into a deficit position, and
WHEREAS, the Board of Weld County Commissioners deems it advisable to impose the
additional $500.00 transport fee with the monies going into the trust fund as long as deemed
necessary to adequately provide for the repair of road damage done by oil and gas drilling
activities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Weld County, Colorado, that effective July 18, 2001, the transport fee for transporting oil rig
equipment over County roads is set at $1,000.00 with the additional $500.00 of the fee being
deposited into the trust fund created for this purpose.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted
by the following vote on the 18th day of July, A.D., 2001.
