Offset from Proposed Agricultural building to existing Wellhead
Chris,
I have contacted the HS Resources regarding the required setback from building to
wellhead. The Gas Commission does not regulate the distance. There are no written
documents that request a specific distance. Chuck and I have spoken to both Mr.David
Bell and Mr.Donald French who are the Landmen for the wells in this area. Mr. Donald
French measured the site and verified the distances. Both men indicated that while the
150-ft. requirement would be preferred, it is not a requirement and that the 90 to 100 feet
from the wellhead to the proposed building would be sufficient.
It is essential that we are allowed a variance from 150-ft well head to our
ftrequirement
proposes barn. We cannot move the building anywhere meet the
150 with out violating set back requirements. We are prepared to make extra safety
precautions
We purchased this property, in February of 1996,to build our barn zoning office
I ffwas concerned
about the wellhead and spent several hours at the planning
hours on the phone with the state gas/oil agency, trying to find out the offsets or if any
existed. I was told by a person(name unknown) at the Weld county planning and Zoning
that they did not have a specific offset requirement and that it was up the Gas/oil
commission. This requirement is still not regulated.
I understand the concerns, are mostly related to the gas companies ability to get their
equipment in and out of the area. I do not understand what difference it makes if they
are my horses or boarders, whether the well is 150 of 75 ft. away from the barn. As far as
safety goes I now have boarders as well as my own horses scratching their backs the
wellhead. Before construction is started on the barn we intend to work with HS
Resources to get some type of a removable safety fence put up around the wellhead.
