HomeMy WebLinkAbout20013342.tiff RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS MINUTES BOARD OF SOCIAL SERVICES WELD COUNTY, COLORADO DECEMBER 5, 2001 TAPE #2001-50 The Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, met in regular session as the Board of Social Services in full conformity with the laws of the State of Colorado at the regular place of meeting in the Weld County Centennial Center, Greeley, Colorado, December 5, 2001, at the hour of 9:00 a.m. ROLL CALL: The meeting was called to order by the Chair and on roll call the following members were present, constituting a quorum of the members thereof: Commissioner M. J. Geile, Chair Commissioner Glenn Vaad, Pro-Tem Commissioner William H. Jerke Commissioner David E. Long Commissioner Robert D. Masden Also present: County Attorney, Bruce T. Barker Acting Clerk to the Board, Esther E. Gesick Director of Finance and Administration, Don Warden MINUTES: Commissioner Masden moved to approve the minutes of the Board of Social Services meeting of December 3, 2001, as printed. Commissioner Long seconded the motion, and it carried unanimously. WARRANTS: Don Warden, Director of Finance and Administration, presented the warrants for approval by the Board in the amount of $33,349.57. Commissioner Long moved to approve the warrants as presented by Mr. Warden. Commissioner Jerke seconded the motion, which carried unanimously. NEW BUSINESS: CONSIDER NOTIFICATION OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AWARD FOR CORE SERVICES FUNDS AND AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO SIGN-INNERCHOICE COUNSELING CENTER:Judy Griego, Director of Social Services, stated the Innerchoice Counseling Center will provide Intensive and Step-Down Services for Residential Treatment Center placements, for the term beginning January 1, 2002, and ending May 31, 2002. Commissioner Vaad moved to approve said award and authorize the Chair to sign. Seconded by Commissioner Long, the motion carried unanimously. CONSIDER NOTIFICATION OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AWARD FOR CORE SERVICES FUNDS AND AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO SIGN- SAVIO HOUSE: Ms. Griego stated Savio House will provide alternative programs to Residential Treatment Center placements as discussed in the previous item. Commissioner Long moved to approve said award and authorize the Chair to sign. Seconded by Commissioner Vaad, the motion carried unanimously. 2001-3342 BC0016 CONSIDER NOTIFICATION OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AWARD FOR CORE SERVICES FUNDS AND AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO SIGN-STILLWATER SERVICES CENTER: Ms. Griego stated Stillwater Services Center will provide Alternative Programs to Residential Treatment Center placements, for the term beginning January 1, 2002, and ending May 31, 2002. She stated the funding will be from the Child Welfare Block Grant. In response to Commissioner Vaad, Ms. Griego stated she will work with the 19th Judicial District to encourage them to consider these programs as alternatives, and after a meeting with Judge Klein and Magistrate Tuttle, she has agreed to do monthly reporting to the 19th Judicial District on the impact the programs are having on the RTC numbers. Commissioner Long commented the Department is being cautious not to do too much too fast, and they will continue to communicate as to which programs are working. Commissioner Vaad moved to approve said award and authorize the Chair to sign. Commissioner Long seconded the motion, which carried unanimously. Let the minutes reflect that the above and foregoing actions were attested to and respectfully submitted by the Acting Clerk to the Board.
