The Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, met in regular session as the Board of
Social Services in full conformity with the laws of the State of Colorado at the regular place of meeting in
the Weld County Centennial Center, Greeley, Colorado, January 29, 2001, at the hour of 9:00 a.m.
ROLL CALL: The meeting was called to order by the Chair and on roll call the following members were
present, constituting a quorum of the members thereof:
Commissioner M. J. Geile, Chair
Commissioner Glenn Vaad, Pro-Tern
Commissioner William H. Jerke
Commissioner David E. Long
Commissioner Robert D. Masden - EXCUSED
Also present:
County Attorney, Bruce T. Barker
Acting Clerk to the Board, Esther E. Gesick
Director of Finance and Administration, Don Warden
MINUTES: Commissioner Vaad moved to approve the minutes of the Board of Social Services meeting
of January 22, 2001, as printed. Commissioner Long seconded the motion, and it carried unanimously.
WARRANTS: Don Warden, Director of Finance and Administration, presented the warrants for approval
by the Board in the amount of $252,149.11. Commissioner Vaad moved to approve the warrants as
presented by Mr. Warden. Commissioner Jerke seconded the motion, which carried unanimously.
NEW BUSINESS:
CONSIDER INDEPENDENT LIVING PROGRAMS PROPOSAL FOR SUPPLEMENTAL FUNDING AND
AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO SIGN:Judy Griego, Director of Social Services, stated the Colorado Department
of Human Services is providing supplemental funding in the amount of$18,000.00, which must be spent
by June 30,2001. She stated the funds will be used for training and aftercare group activities, new training
materials, a mentoring program, and the Emancipation Economic Assistance Program. In response to
Commissioner Jerke, Ms. Griego stated the programs are for juveniles who are being emancipated from
the Child Welfare System. She further stated this is a supplement to normal budgeted amounts.
Commissioner Vaad moved to approve said proposal and authorize the Chair to sign. Seconded by
Commissioner Jerke, the motion carried unanimously.
Let the minutes reflect that the above and foregoing actions were attested to and respectfully submitted
by the Acting Clerk to the Board.
