A public hearing was conducted on February 14, 2001, at 10:00 a.m., with the following present:
Commissioner M. J. Geile, Chair
Commissioner Glenn Vaad, Pro-Tern - EXCUSED
Commissioner William H. Jerke
Commissioner David E. Long
Commissioner Robert D. Masden
Also present:
Acting Clerk to the Board, Esther Gesick
Assistant County Attorney, Lee Morrison
Planning Department representative, Julie Chester
Public Works representative, Diane Houghtaling
The following business was transacted:
I hereby certify that pursuant to a notice dated January 26, 2001, and duly published January 31,
2001, in the Tri-Town Farmer and Miner, a public hearing was conducted to consider the request
of Kerbs Dairy/First Commercial Bank for a Site Specific Development Plan and Amended Use by
Special Review Permit #820 for the Redesign and Expansion of an Agricultural Service
Establishment and Livestock Confinement Operation(5,000-head dairy)in the A(Agricultural)Zone
District. Lee Morrison, Assistant County Attorney, made this a matter of record. Julie Chester,
Department of Planning Services, stated the applicant has submitted a letter, marked Exhibit F,
requesting this matter be continued. After checking the Board's schedule with the Clerk to the
Board, she recommended this matter be continued to March 28, 2001, at 10:00 a.m. She stated
the property is owned by two brothers. The letter explains one is out of town and the other's wife
is expecting a baby. In response to Chair Geile, Esther Gesick, Deputy Clerk to the Board, stated
the proposed date for continuance is acceptable.
Commissioner Masden moved to approve the request for continuance from Kerbs Dairy/First
Commercial Bank for a Site Specific Development Plan and Amended Use by Special Review
Permit#820 for Redesign and Expansion of an Agricultural Service Establishment and Livestock
Confinement Operation (5,000-head dairy) in the A (Agricultural) Zone District. The motion was
seconded by Commissioner Jerke.
Dale Dilka, surrounding property owner, stated he understands the applicant's reasons for
requesting a continuance; however,they do have representation which could have proceeded with
this matter today. He further stated there was significant opposition to this request at the Planning
Commission hearing.
Upon a call for the vote, the motion carried unanimously.
