RESOLUTION
RE: AUTHORIZE BARRICADING OF COUNTY ROAD 62. 2
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home
Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the
affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners in action taken
on August 27, 1980 authorized temporary closure of County Road
62. 2 until such time as funds become available to upgrade the
road to a safe and satisfactory condition, and
WHEREAS, as a result of continued complaints from the
residents of the area, the Board was requested to barricade
the road off to all traffic, and
WHEREAS, the County Engineer recommended the road be
barricaded off to all traffic and provide an access by a gate
or a cable for the ditch company for purposes of maintaining
the ditch.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board that County
Road 62 . 2 be closed to all traffic and an access be provided,
by means of a gate or cable, for the ditch company to maintain
the ditch.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners
that they deem it in the best interests of Weld County County
to retain the county road right-of-way.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly
made and seconded, adopted by the following vote on the 30th
day of September, A.D. , 1981.

• is a result of recent discussions with residents of the area, t s R and of
Coirnissioners is proposing to barricade off to all traffic that portion of
Weld County Road 62.2 from its intersection with Weld County Rc 29 on the
west and its intersection with "C" Street on the east, a distance of
approxinately one-half mile.
The argunents that the Cormissionets have heard so far indicate that
there is no reP1 requirement for the road and that the present use of
the road results in trash and debris being deposited on the road and
along the property on either side. In addition, the State Highway Patrol
has recommended that this road be closed because it is too narrow to
carry traffic safely. By recent resolution, the Pnai-d has already closed
the road to all but local traffic until such tine as funds could be found
to upgrade it to make it a safe road. It now appears that even that small
amount of traffic is causing a problem.
Should you wish to rake your views heard by the Board, it is requested that
you appear at the ,regular a gi et naS9:0,0 A.D pn$epte2 e>, 3O 1981.

Subject: Closure of Weld County Road 62.2
• By resolution dated, August 27, 1980, the Board temporarily closed Weld County
Road 62.2 until such time as funds become available to up-grade the road to a
safe and satisfactory condition. The road is barricaded and has been open
to local traffic only since that time.
•
As a result of continued complaints from the residents of the area, the item
is on the agenda for September 30, 1981, to barricade the road off to all
traffic. Complaints have been received by the Commissioners that unauthorized
use of the road results in trash and other debris being deposited along the
• sides of the road, as well as the potential for an accident. The residents
of the area have been invited to attend the September 30, 1981 Board mccting
to express their views with regard to permanent closure. We have a letter from
the Greeley Irrigation Company (No. 3 Ditch) indicating a requirement to have
access through the barricades for the purposes of maintaining the ditch. •
If the road is barricaded off to all traffic, we would provide access by a gate
or a cable for the ditch company. To our knowledge, they are the only ones

who have a real need to use the road.
