CONSIDER CONTRACT FOR CHILD CARE QUALITY EXPANSION GRANT AND AUTHORIZE CHAIR

granted an amount less than requested, therefore, an amended application was submitted indicating
reduced programs and activities to reflect the lower amount of funds. She explained United Way of Weld
County and Aims Community College are responsible for matching the funds, and the monies will be used
to provide recruitment and retention of child care providers, increased community awareness and access
to information about choosing child care, exploring a child care provider network/center, and increasing
the quality and quantity of before/after care programs. In response to Commissioner Jerke, Ms. Griego
stated the program is funded by a Federal Child Care Block Grant which is distributed by the Colorado
Department of Human Services. She reiterated the match will be paid by Aims Community College and
United Way, and the Weld County Department of Social Services will not be providing any of the services.
Responding to Commissioner Vaad, Ms. Griego stated the lower amount of funds has resulted in an
amended contract with decreased activities. Commissioner Long moved to approve said contract and
