MEMORANDUM
TO: Monica Mika, Director of Planning Services
DATE: November 16, 2001
FROM: Frank B. Hempen, Jr., P.E., Director of Public Works/
County Engineer
SUBJECT: Etherton Subdivision Filing No. 2
On behalf of the residents along Bluebell Avenue and the Department of Public Works, I am
requesting a delay in the hearing on the subject re-subdivision. I do not expect the delay to be longer
than 60 days.
The proposed re-subdivision is being proposed to vacate road right of way which extends to the
south edge of the plat.
The City of Greeley has indicated several concerns with the proposal. At the request of Greg
Thompson, City planning staff, a meeting was held on November 14 with the neighborhood
proponents to discuss several concerns.
Issues discussed by Mr. Thompson where the loss of connectivity for traffic generated by future
development from the south and mobility/water accessibility for fire services at the new south
terminus of the road.
The issue pertaining to the need for a cul de sac, hammerhead, or eye brow turn around at the south
end of the Bluebell right of way created interest with the residents. They were also interested in the
cost of installing a fire hydrant near the turn around.
The residents agreed a delay was appropriate to allow time to determine an acceptable"layout" for
the turn around and obtain cost information for the installation of a fire hydrant.
I will advise when the neighborhood is ready to set a new hearing date.
