The Assessor has determined that your property should be included in the following category(ies): Agricultural land - The value is determined soley by the earning or productive capacity of the land, capitalized at a rate set by law. If your concern is the amount of your property tax, local taxing authorities(county, city, fire protection, and other special districts)hold budget hearings in the fall. Please refer to your tax bill or ask your Assessor for a listing of these districts, and plan to attend these budget hearings. The Assessor has carefully studied all available information.giving particular attention to the specifics included on your protest.and has determined the valuation(s)assigned to your property. The reasons for this determination of value are as follows: Your property has been uniformly valued following Colorado law and instructions published by the State Division of Property Taxation. Your protest of value has been denied due to comparison of other similar properties which sold during the 1999/2000 time eriod. This comparison shows your actual property value to be correct for that period. R6322486 TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN : Enclosed is a copy of a letter c.a.ted May 28th that my wife and I sent to the Weld Co . Assessor, not as an appeal , but addressing our concern of what ' s happening to our R.E . tax amounts due each year (See 2nd paragraph of previous letter) . Also enclosed is a copy of a "Notice of Denial" we received. These letters are sent only because we hope somebody there realizes that this is not just an issue of property values and mill levies , but about what is happening to our R.E. taxes , especially to those of us who are on fixed incomes . My 1999 tax was $305 . 20 and my 2000 tax was $828 . 96. Rased upon your valuation increase of 38% , that means my next year t.+.x bile will be $1 , 143 . 96 . There were a number of articles in the Boulder paper last year about residents there who were selling their homes they had owned for years because they couldn ' t afford to pay the large continual tax increases . It would appear that we are headed in that same direction . My wife and I manage to survive on our combined Social Security incomes of $1 , 415 . per mo . We are not eligible to get relief under the new law for people eve=r 65 because we have only lived here for 7 years . I knew that all of you involved in determining assessments feel you are ,just doing your ,jobs , but it would seem that at some point , we who get an average increase of Soc . Sec . benefits of about 3% per yr . would have some other options . Thanks for taking the time to read this and thanks for any considera- tion . Sincerely , Norm Neuhalfen and `veda J . This hearing will be held at the Weld County Centennial Center, First Floor Hearing Room, 915 10th Street, Greeley, Colorado. You have a right to attend this hearing and present evidence in support of your petition. The Weld County Assessor or his designee will be present.
