RELEASE AT WILL November 15, 1984
RS 0012 (20) S.H. 12 EAST OF VALDEZ
The Department's Division of Highways accepted three bids at the
November 15 opening for a Set-Aside project which will improve a segment of
S.H. 12 in Las Animas county. Bidding was open only to certified, prequalified
minority business enterprises.
The project begins 3.4 miles east of Valdez and extends 1.4 miles westerly,
with a net length of 1.1 miles. It consists of grading, structures, stabilization,
hot bituminous paving, striping, topsoil, seeding and mulching.
J & J Paving Inc. of Pueblo submitted an apparently successful bid of
$719,965 on this project, which requires completion within sixty working days.
Resident engineer is R. W. Walls of Pueblo.

U.S. 287 SOUTH OF LAMAR

Resurfacing six and a half miles of U.S. 287 south of Lamar drew three
bidders at the Division of Highways November 15 opening. A combined project calls
for hot bituminous pavement overlay; work begins 17.4 miles south of the community
and extends south.
An apparently successful bid of $391,116 was received from Carder, Inc,
& HLM Construction, Inc. (a joint venture) of Swink, Colorado. The project is
scheduled for completion within forty workable days. Resident engineer is
B. B. McDonnall of Lamar.

RS 0139(10) S.H. 139 SOUTH OF RANGELY
Clarke &Younger, Inc. of Grand Junction submitted an apparently successful
bid of $60,589 at the Division of Highways November 15 opening for a fencing and
cattle guard project along S.H. 139 in Rio Blanco county. Bids had previously
been opened August 16 for this work under a Set-Aside project available only to
minority businesses, but the project was readvertised.
The project beings 171/2 miles north of the Garfield/Rio Blanco county line
and extends 8.7 miles north. Seven firms turned in offers on the project, which
requires completion within forty working days following the Notice to Proceed.
