RE: APPROVE INSTALLATION OF TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES ON WELD COUNTY
ROAD 19 AT WELD COUNTY ROAD 90
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Weld County Department of Public Works has recommended to the
Board that "Stop" signs be installed on Weld County Road 19 at Weld County Road 90, to
ensure safety to the traveling public, and
WHEREAS, the Board has determined that said traffic control devices are necessary for
the protection of the general public.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Weld County, Colorado, that the Department of Public Works be, and hereby is, directed to
install "Stop" signs on Weld County Road 19 at Weld County Road 90, for the safety of the
general public, and said signs shall conform to the State Manual of Uniform Traffic Control
Devices.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted
by the following vote on the 24th day of September, A.D., 2001.

CSUBJECT: Intersection Study WCR 90 and WCR 19
COLORADO
The Weld County Department of Public Works received a request to verify the sight distance at the
intersection of WCR 90 and WCR 19. This intersection does not have sufficient sight distance. A review
of recent accident records indicates one accident has occurred at this intersection since 1998. A field
investigation was completed in September of 2001. Although sight distance is adequate at the intersection,
it is restricted on the southeast corner,preventing adequate decision sight distance. It is presently posted with
LIMITED SIGHT DISTANCE warning signs.
The warrants for a stop sign per Section 2B-5 of the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices are:
1. Intersection ofa less important road with a main road where application of the normal
right-of-way rule is unduly hazardous. All legs are gravel roads with less than 200
vehicles per day(vpd).
2. Street entering a through highway or street. Both streets are through streets.
3. Un-signalized intersection in a signalized area. There are no signals in this area.
4. Other-intersection where a combination of high speed, restricted view, and serious
accident record indicates a need for control by the STOP sign. As stated before, there
is not sufficient decision sight distance at this intersection.
Recommendation
This intersection meets the warrants for a stop sign and I recommend the warning signs be removed and a
stop sign be ins led on WCR
