REPORT TO THE PEOPLE
January 16, 2001
The Weld County Council is mandated by the Home Rule Charter of Weld
County, Colorado, to report to the people matters relating to the Council's review of
Weld County government. This report summarizes the activities of the Weld County
Council during the fourth quarter of the calendar year 2000.
October 17, 2000 -Weld County Centennial Center
• Mr. Paul Rayl, Ft. Lupton City Planner, gave an overview of the growth and
development east of the 125 Corridor in the Ft. Lupton area.
• Mr. Oster reported he had been approached with "documentation" that a county
employee in a county vehicle was not on the job during working hours.
Councilman Oster expressed confidence that the department head or the Weld
County Commissioners would take appropriate action in the matter.
• President Al Roberts presented the Council information regarding the salaries of
Weld County Commissioners and Weld County Office Technicians (III). He also
reported the availability of related information on the World Wide Web.
November 21, 2000 -Weld County Centennial Center
• County Commissioner Chairman Barbara Kirkmeyer presented a review of
changes in Weld County during her eight-year tenure as a Commissioner.
• The Council signed Council Resolution 130 setting the Commissioners' salaries
at $59,000 for the year 2003 and $61,000 for the year 2004.
• The Council received a letter from Commissioner Chairman Barbara Kirkmeyer
regarding the Council's request for a Commissioner review of the salaries and
the staffing of the Clerk and Recorder's office.
December 19, 2000 -Weld County Centennial Center
• Vice President Dwaine Kurtz thanked Councilman Dan Oster and President Al
Roberts for their contributions to Weld County as Weld County Council
Councilmen. The Council presented plaques to Councilmen Oster and Roberts
recognizing their service to the people of Weld County.
During the fourth quarter of 2001, Council members have researched answers to
questions and concerns brought to their attention by citizens of Weld County. In that
process Council members have talked periodically with the Commissioners and various
Elected Officials and Department Heads.

Council meetings are on the third Tuesday evening of each month at 6:30 p.m. in
the Weld County Centennial Center, Greeley, Colorado or in a Weld County town at a
time and place to be announced. For information please contact the County Council
office.
