We are now senior citizens and have been retired for past 5 years. We now live on the income from our investments and Social Security. This high and unfair home valuation is killing us fanatically. I am sure like millions of other senior citizens across this nation have lost thousands of dollars in their investments like us. Where do we get the money to keep paying these double digit increase on home valuation with a fix income? We were once again shocked with the Weld County Assessor's letter telling us that someone, who lives 5 or 8 blocks from us sold their big and fancy house for way more money than our home is worth. This is unfair again. The assessor, is saying the same statement as of last year. Our home valuation in 2000 went up from $94,947 to $131,120; an increase of$36,173 or 27.59 percent. Cost of living for that year in 2000 was by US government data was 2.1%. Now in 2001, the Weld County Assessor again found that someone, who sold their home, what ever size and condition, has increased our home valuation from $131, 120 to $173,353; an increase of$$42,432 or 24.45 percent, and with this total for the last two years; our home valuation increased by $78,605 or 52.04 percent. This is crazy! A home is only worth, what someone is willing buy it for? The past two years, "cost of living, throughout the United States was 5.7 percent total not 52 percent like our home cost. It looks like our local governments are trying to drive us senior citizens, out of our hard earned homes. My neighbor, Steve Walters, who lives across the street, at 1961 24th Avenue; just bought his house for$131,000, four months ago. My neighbor, the Harvey and Carol Parish, who is four houses north of us, at 1951 24th Avenue, is trying to sell their home for $165,000. They haven't had any takers in buying the house as of July 4th. The Parish have spent, $20,000 in fixing their home for sale with a new roof, flooring, carpeting the house, painting the house, cement drive and others projects just trying to get it ready for sale and in selling it for $165,000. Our home is next to 20t Street were 5,000 to 6,000 cars pass per day. The street looks and acts like 1-25 during each day. These vehicles create much dirt and trash during the week at all hours of the day. It is to dangerous for a family with children to live in this house because of the over speeding and noise from the vehicles. We never open our windows to our home. To be honest, what I know now; I would have never bought this house. We are being over evaluated on our home. Please, don't drive us out of our home?
