Box 758 Greeley, CO 80631-0758 Dear Commission Members: Re: Federal FY00 Juvenile Accountability Incentive Block Grant(JAIBG)to the Weld County Board of Commissioners in the amount of$41,101 - 3rd year allocation The Division of Criminal Justice, Colorado Department of Public Safety, has received the FY00 JAIBG allocations. The Weld County Board of Commissioners is eligible to receive a JAIBG allocation of$41,101. A minimum cash match of$4,567 is required. Funds will be available upon approval of submitted documents for start dates of October 1, 2001, and are good through September 30, 2002. The enclosed 1999 JAIBG Local Plan Awards chart depicts current subgrant agencies, the jurisdiction(s) included in the plans, the project directors, and programs being developed within the allowable purpose areas. For FY00 the allocation can be used to continue or expand current plans or to develop new plans. As last year, twelve program areas are available for use of the funds, with up to 10 percent (10%) of the award available for administrative costs. See the enclosed "Allocation Guidelines for Program Fund Distribution by Program Area" for more information. (Keep these BM Owens Guidelines for reference during your plan development.) A coordinated enforcement plan for GOVERNOR reducing juvenile crime, developed by a Juvenile Crime Enforcement Coalition (JCEC), with C.Suzanne Meneer EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR required representation, must be established after an analysis of the juvenile justice system Division of needs in your jurisdiction and submitted prior to obligation of program funds. DCJ encourages plans to follow the Restorative Justice model balancing accountability, community protection and competency development of juvenile offenders. Specific analysis of the needs of minority youth and girls should also take place. Please review all of the enclosed materials and remember to submit the "Waiver of Direct Subgrant Award" Form or the "Intent to Accept Funds" Form by May 15, 2001.
