HomeMy WebLinkAbout20010260.tiff RESOLUTION RE: APPROVE INDEPENDENT LIVING PROGRAMS PROPOSAL FOR SUPPLEMENTAL FUNDING AND AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO SIGN WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and WHEREAS, the Board has been presented with an Independent Living Programs Proposal for Supplemental Funding from the County of Weld, State of Colorado, by and through the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, on behalf of the Department of Social Services, to the Colorado Department of Human Services, with terms and conditions being as stated in said proposal, and WHEREAS, after review, the Board deems it advisable to approve said proposal, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, ex-officio Board of Social Services, that the Independent Living Programs Proposal for Supplemental Funding from the County of Weld, State of Colorado, by and through the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, on behalf of the Department of Social Services, to the Colorado Department of Human Services be, and hereby is, approved. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board that the Chair be, and hereby is, authorized to sign said proposal. The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted by the following vote on the 29th day of January, A.D., 2001. Griego, Director, Social Services V a RE: Independent Living Programs Proposal for Supplemental Funding through the Colorado Department of Human Services Enclosed for Board approval is an Independent Living Programs Proposal for Supplemental Funding, Military Construction Act, IL1066-2446, through the Colorado Department of Human Services. The Board approved the original proposal. The Colorado Department of Human Services is providing supplemental funding of $18,000 to be expended by June 30, 2001. We understand this funding will need to be expended by June 30, 2001, and will be used as follows: • $3,000 to be spent to supplement funding of the Training and Aftercare Groups to encourage increased attendance and participation through giveaways, door prizes and to reward those participants that successfully complete the training groups. This will service approximately 30 youth. • $2,000 to be spent on acquiring new training materials. • $1,000 to initiate a mentoring program for youth emancipating by matching them with adults in the community. This will service approximately 5 youth. • $12,000 to be spent for Emancipation Economic Assistance for youth moving into emancipation to assist them with deposits, acquiring furniture, etc. The total amount allotted to each youth is based on individual need but the maximum amount is $800. This will allow Weld County to service 17+ youth. This expenditure will be approved by the Independent Living Worker and the Youth Services Supervisor.
