Dear Ms. Jenkins:
The purpose of this letter is to submit Weld County's proposal for the supplemental funding of
$18,000, available under Independent Living Programs, Military Construction Act, IL106-246.
We understand this funding will need to be expended by June 30, 2001, and will be used as
follows:
• $3,000 to be spent to supplement funding of the Training and Aftercare Groups to
encourage increased attendance and participation through giveaways, door prizes and to
reward those participants that successfully complete the training groups. This will
service approximately 30 youth.
• $2,000 to be spent on acquiring new training materials.
• $1,000 to initiate a mentoring program for youth emancipating by matching them with
adults in the community. This will service approximately 5 youth.
• $12,000 to be spent for Emancipation Economic Assistance for youth moving into
emancipation to assist them with deposits, acquiring furniture, etc. The total amount
allotted to each youth is based on individual need but the maximum amount is $800.
This will allow Weld County to service 17+ youth. This expenditure will be approved
by the Independent Living Worker and the Youth Services Supervisor.
If there are further questions or a need for clarification, please contact Joyce Hause at (970)
352-1551, extension 6245.
Sincerely, Approved by:
