RE : GRANT REQUEST FOR SPEED ZONING TO 35 MPH ON WELD COUNTY
ROAD 14? AND HOLLY STREET, EAST OF WELD COUNTY ROAD 7
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home
Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the
affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, a petition has been presented to the Board of
County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, requesting
certain control traffic signs be installed for the general
public safety, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to such petition, the Board of County
Commissioners has determined upon the basis of the traffic
and personal investigations by the Department of Engineering,
that conditions exist which make it necessary to regulate,
warn and guide vehicular traffic on County roads by posting
signs thereon, and
WHEREAS, after careful consideration and much deliberation
of all the details involved, the Board of County Commissioners
has determined that it would be in the best interest of, and
necessary for the protection of the general public, to authorize
the installation of 35 mile per hour speed limit signs on
Weld County Road 141 and Holly Street, east of Weld County Road 7.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County
Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, that the Department
of Engineering services be, and hereby is, directed to install
35 mph speed limit signs on Weld County Road 141 and Holly
Street, east of Weld County Road 7 .
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly
made and seconded, adopted by the following vote on the 15th
day of June, A.D. , 1981.

song,:, Petition from Residents of Grandview Highland Estates
The petition requests the Board to post 35 mile per hour speed limits
on Weld County Road 7 between Colorado 52 and Weld County Road 16, along
both Weld County Road 142 and Holly Street and Weld County Road 16 east
of Weld County Road 7. The reason given by the petitioners is that the
residental build--up and the associated traffic in the area make it dangerous
for both vehicle and pedestrian traffic in the area.
Traffic counts taken in the area yield the following results :
Holly Street ADT 54
Weld County Road 142 ADT 76
Weld County Road 7 ADT 120
Most of the residences in the area are on Holly Street and Weld County
Road 142. At present the 55 mph speed limit would apply on all the
roads in the area.
Visibility and sight- distance due to the terrain does not present any
particular problem, i .e. , visibility is fairly good throughout the area.
Judging from the relatively light traffic in the area, it would not
seem justified to post the entire area for 35 mph. I would recommend
perhaps that Holly Street and Weld County Road 142 could be posted for
35 mph.
The petitioners requested that they be notified of the date that this
will be placed on the agenda, so that they would have an opportunity
to speak to the Commissioners about this.
