The Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, met in regular session as the Board of
Social Services in full conformity with the laws of the State of Colorado at the regular place of meeting in
the Weld County Centennial Center, Greeley, Colorado, June 11, 2001, at the hour of 9:00 a.m.
ROLL CALL: The meeting was called to order by the Chair and on roll call the following members were
present, constituting a quorum of the members thereof:
Commissioner M. J. Geile, Chair
Commissioner Glenn Vaad, Pro-Tem - EXCUSED
Commissioner William H. Jerke
Commissioner David E. Long
Commissioner Robert D. Masden
Also present:
County Attorney, Bruce T. Barker
Acting Clerk to the Board, Esther E. Gesick
Director of Finance and Administration, Don Warden
MINUTES: Commissioner Masden moved to approve the minutes of the Board of Social Services meeting
of June 6, 2001, as printed. Commissioner Long seconded the motion, and it carried unanimously.
WARRANTS: Don Warden, Director of Finance and Administration, presented the warrants for approval
by the Board in the amount of $1,466.04. Commissioner Long moved to approve the warrants as
presented by Mr. Warden. Commissioner Masden seconded the motion, which carried unanimously.
NEW BUSINESS:
CONSIDER REVISION TO OPERATIONS MANUAL, SECTION 2.000, SOCIAL SERVICES DIVISION
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: Judy Griego, Director of Social Services, stated the purpose of the
revision is to update the procedures and polices regarding legal services, conform to the State's
Administrative Review process, incorporate statutory and State rule changes, and organize the legal
services section for better utilization by caseworkers. In response to Commissioner Jerke, Ms. Griego
stated 95 percent of the changes are required by State law. Commissioner Long moved to approve said
revision as recommended by staff. Commissioner Masden seconded the motion, which carried
unanimously.

CONSIDER REVISION TO OPERATIONS MANUAL, SECTION 8.000, SOCIAL SERVICES DIVISION
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: Ms. Griego stated the purpose for revision to Section 8.000 is to allow
the Department of Social Services to add an expense report and travel reimbursement payroll during the
month, as well as outlining procedures and deadlines for staff. In response to Commissioner Jerke, Ms.
Griego stated this will allow payment to staff twice a month, instead of once. Commissioner Masden
moved to approve said revision as recommended by staff. The motion, which was seconded by
Commissioner Long, carried unanimously.
Let the minutes reflect that the above and foregoing actions were attested to and respectfully submitted
by the Acting Clerk to the Board.
There being no further business, this meeting was adjourned at 9:10 a.m.
