Dear Commissioners;
On April 26, 1983, the residents of the Tri-Area approved the
formation of the Carbon Valley Park & Recreation District. Since
then, the Board of Directors has been working to set up the or-
ganizational frame work of the District and has been planning re-
creational programs for the balance of 1983. We have, however,
been hampered in our efforts by the lack of money since the Dis-
trict will not be receiving any tax revenues until April of 1984.
In addition, the District was informed that it would not receive
any money from the lottery fund since the District was formed
too late to qualify, this year, 1983.
Therefore, I am formally requesting that the Board of Commission-
ers take under consideration that share of the lottery funds that
Weld County will be receiving, that is attributed to the area
covered by the Carbon Valley Park & Recreation District, be turn-
ed over to the District in order to fund our local park and recre-
ation programs.
I am willing to discuss this proposal further with you at your
earliest convenience.
In closing, I on behalf of my fellow directors and the residents
of the Tri-Area want to extend our appreciation to the Board of
Commissioners for their help and support in forming the Carbon
Valley Park & Recreation District.
