RE: APPROVAL TO PAY CLAIM FOR LEGAL FEES
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home
Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the
affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, Rick Dill, Captain of the Sheriff' s Department, was
named in the Tydings suit together with the Sheriff and Board of
County Commissioners, and
WHEREAS, Rick Dill did incur legal fees in the amount of
$573. 56 in relation to the Tydings case prior to being assured that
he would be defended by the County Attorney, and
WHEREAS, Rick Dill has presented a claim in the amount of
$573. 56 to the Board of County Commissioners for the above services
in the amount of $573. 56.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commis-
sioners that the Board hereby authorizes payment of the claim in
the amount of $573. 56 to be charged to the Sheriff ' s budget.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and
seconded, adopted by the following vote on the 1st day of February,
A.D. , 1982.

Subject: LFGAI FEES
As you are aware, the 1983 suit filed against the Board of County
Commissioners , Sheriff Andrews , and myself occurred while I was
in Quantico, VI attending the FBI National Academy. Contained
in the suit was the request for compensatory and punative damages.
In the past, representatives of the County's Insurance Administrators
have forwarded letters to me for distribution to members of this
Office named in similar punative damage suits indicating that the
insurance would not pay punative damage awards and recommending
the retention of private counsel .
Because of this past experience, and the strained communications
resulting from my schooling, it was my decision to seek adequate
representation to insure my personal interests were met. As a
direct result of that action, Weld County has agreed to be res-
ponsible for any damage awards in either compensatory or punative.
However, this arrangement required my personal expense in the
amount of $573.56. This expense does appear to be a direct re-
sult of my employment and I would therefore respectfully request
authorization for reimbursement. Supporting documents are
attached.
Your attention to this matter is appreciated.
