Re: Water Use,Additional informadon on Permit No. ?34768
Dear Steve,
i have now reviewed your wel
l ll permit no. 230768.and find that
this is actually a.
registraion of an existing well issued pursuant.to C_R_s.-37-92-502(5). As.such, its uses are
limited.those historic uses for which.it was registered (household purposes inside one single
• family dwelling, fire protection; watering of domestic animals and poultry, and the irrigation of
10,000 square feet of landsr3pe). Due to the hydraulic nature of the aquifer in which.the well is
completed. the weft could nett he permitted for additional commercial-uses without a plan for
intrndu Mg replacement water into the stream system_
^ ! see from the paperwork accompanying your well's registration that you have 100 acres of land.
It appears that there are two options for providing.ground water to the t estroorn facilities for your
business,
1. Apply for a permit and construct a-well in the Laramie-Fox Hills aquifer- In this aquifer. the
legal availability of water would be more than sufficient to satisfy your needs, ss
understand them, Unfortunately.a weU.using this source would produce ground water Porn
a depth redinnina at 580 feet. The welt would need to go.much.deeper to be a dependable
source of water This may be a well that is too expensive. issuance of a-permit for such a-
weil is contingent on full evaluation.
2. Identify 35 acres of land(or more)that has no other wellss. On such a parcel a permit may
be issued for a"commercial exempts well. The well's usewould be limited to drinking and
sanitary purposes and.would require the use of a non-evaporative septic system, There are
other limitations and requirements for this type of well permit and its issuance is contingent
on-a full evaluation. This well could, however, be completed in-a shallower aquifer
You.have aluded to the possibility of using of a temporary facility (satl-o-let)or using a water
tank or cistern. The division of water resources.vvould have no objection to your use of these •
options to supply water to the re imorn f.r jlyt.

If you would like to discuss this matter further please call me.
