Olson, Utility-Subdivision Administrator Subject: Vacation Request for Second Street in Galeton An on site inspection indicates that Second Strcct is not open between Blocks 3 and 4 in the Town of Zita (aka Galeton) . Due to the fact that subject parcel is part of the town, now known as Galeton, and there are several legal lots in this area there could be a need for said Second Street. The existing house is located partly within Second Street right-of-way. Fran information at hand Second Street right-of-way is 100 feet wide and the house encroaches 18 feet onto said street. The alternatives in the above matter would be as follows: 1. Vacate the south 20 feet of Sewnd Stleut adjacent to Lot 13, Block 4. This would clear title to the house and still leave an 80 foot street for future development, which in my opinion is plenty wide for any development in this area. 2. Vacate the street as requested. 3. Deny the request. The reasons for this request are as follows: (1) The street has never been open to the public or improved in any way, (2) There is no apparant future need to extend said street to the East, (3) To our knowledge, no utilities have been installed within the street except the power line shown, and an easement will be given for it' s continued use, (4) The existing house was constructed partly within the street Right-of-way and cannot be sold with clear title unless the street is properly vacated.
