Dear Mr. Hill:
The Department of Planning Services received a letter dated January 10,2001 yesterday, February
20,2001 from the Galeton Volunteer Fire Department concerning the above referenced application.
In this letter the Fire Department is requesting that the applicant provide additional Fire Department
access in accordance with Section 901 and Section 902 of the 1997 Uniform Fire Code.
For the Fire District to submit a letter well after the Board of County Commissioner hearing date
requesting an additional access to the site as a response to this application remains a mystery to
this office. The Department of Planning Services is more than willing to assist you in the referral
process, however, as noted above, there is a small window of opportunity in which you are able to
participate. This window begins at twenty-one (21) days for receipt of the case specific referral
prior to incorporation of your comments into the staff report to be reviewed at the Planning
Commission hearing. Additional opportunities for public testimony are available at both the
Planning Commission hearing and later at the Board of County Commissioners hearing. A sign
is always posted at least ten days prior to each hearing, notifying the public of ongoing
development requests as required by the Weld County Code.
The Departments of Planning Services and Public Works reviewed your request and have
determined that issues pertaining to access have been previously addressed by both County
Departments. Further, both Departments have determined that your request does not have
standing, specific to this proposal. Therefore, the Departments of Planning Services and Public
Works shall not require the applicant to undergo a hardship to meet this requirement of the Galeton
Volunteer Fire Department as this was not one of the Conditions of Approval or Development
Standards attached to the Use by Special Review Permit.
