Minutes WELD COUNTY COUNCIL l ` '1' 1 PH 2: tr March 20, 2001 Tapes 158AB01 & 159A01 Rc( ) The Weld County Council met in regular session in full conformity with the Weld County Home Rule Charter at Weld Centennial Center, 915 10th Street, Greeley, CO, Tuesday, March 20, 2001, 6:30 p.m. ROLL CALL: The meeting was called to order by President Dwaine Kurtz. Vice President Joyce Smock, Councilwoman Jody Malone, Councilman Mitchell Martin, and Councilman Douglas Rademacher were present, constituting a quorum of the members. Also present: Mr. Tim Tracy. REVIEW PROGRAM: Mr. Tim Tracy, President of the Weld/Greeley Chamber of Commerce, was introduced by Council Vice President Joyce Smock. Mr. Tracy gave an overview of the mission of the Weld/Greeley Chamber of Commerce and highlighted its desire to work with all communities and government agencies in Weld County to build a better business climate. He pointed out agricultural, planned growth, and transportation are regional issues that all Weld County businesses and governments can work on together. Twenty-five percent of the Greeley/Weld Chamber membership is located in Weld County outside of Greeley. AGENDA ADDITIONS/APPROVAL: Councilman Mitchell Martin made a motion to approve the March 20 Council agenda. The motion carried unanimously. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Councilman Douglas Rademacher made a motion to approve the February 20, 2001 meeting minutes. The motion was approved unanimously. PUBLIC COMMENT: There was no public comment. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: Approval of Council's Recognition Resolution Councilman Douglas Rademacher made a motion to approve the revised edition of the Council's Recognition Resolution. The motion carried unanimously. NEW BUSINESS: APPOINTMENTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS: September 2001 Council Meeting Councilman Douglas Rademacher said the Council's September 2001 meeting would be held in the Frederick Town Hall with Weld County Commissioner Vaad presenting the review program about growth. 05� z .2001 o-/ooi-e,8zy Weld County Council Minutes March 20.2001 Page 2 of 3 May 2001 Council Meeting Councilman Mitchell Martin reported that Sheriff Jordan had agreed to send a representative from the Sheriffs Department to speak at the May Council meeting. Councilwoman Joyce Smock is finalizing the location of this meeting. Rademacher Farms' Petition Councilman Douglas Rademacher mentioned that Rademacher Farms is trying to put a large parcel into a mixed used development (MUD.) Councilman Rademacher does not see any conflict, but wanted Council members to know that his name would be on the application CORRESPONDENCE: Councilman Mitchell Martin referenced the February 2001 Board of County Commissioners' minutes and asked a question about the price of a ''/2 ton, four-wheel-drive pickup to be purchased for the Building Inspection Department. President Kurtz asked Mr. Martin to make an inquiry to clarify the pickup's price. COORDINATOR REPORTS: President Dwaine Kurtz reported on a meeting with Commissioner Geile. A review committee to look at the Weld County Home Rule Charter was discussed. Mr. Geile subsequently advised President Kurtz that the Commissioners are inclined to set up a committee to review the Home Rule Charter. Councilman Douglas Rademacher and Councilwoman Jody Malone reported on the Weld County's Strategic Planning Session held March 13th. Councilwoman Jody Malone reported on meeting with Commissioner Rob Masden and Gary McCabe, Department Head of the Ambulance Service. She reported the Ambulance Service is converting to a communications system that allows each ambulance to communicate directly with numerous emergency agencies. She noted this is a significant improvement over the previous arrangement which necessitated multiple communication systems. PAYMENT OF THE BILLS: Councilman Douglas Rademacher made a motion that the bills be paid as listed: Mileage for Councilwoman Jody Malone $69.54 Mileage for Councilman Mitchell Martin $39.04 Mileage for Councilman Douglas Rademacher $71.23 Mileage for Councilwoman Joyce Smock $36.60 Subscription to North Weld Herald $26.00 The motion was seconded and carried.
