The Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, met in regular session as the Board of
Social Services in full conformity with the laws of the State of Colorado at the regular place of meeting
in the Weld County Centennial Center, Greeley, Colorado, March 10, 2003, at the hour of 9:00 a.m.
ROLL CALL: The meeting was called to order by the Chair and on roll call the following members
were present, constituting a quorum of the members thereof:
Commissioner David E. Long, Chair
Commissioner Robert D. Masden, Pro-Tem
Commissioner M. J. Geile
Commissioner William H. Jerke
Commissioner Glenn Vaad
Also present:
County Attorney, Bruce T. Barker
Acting Clerk to the Board, Esther E. Gesick
Director of Finance and Administration, Don Warden
MINUTES: Commissioner Masden moved to approve the minutes of the Board of Social Services
meeting of March 5, 2003, as printed. Commissioner Geile seconded the motion, and it carried
unanimously.
WARRANTS: Don Warden, Director of Finance and Administration, presented the warrants for
approval by the Board in the amount of 28,925.69. Commissioner Vaad moved to approve the
warrants as presented by Mr. Warden. Commissioner Geile seconded the motion, which carried
unanimously.
NEW BUSINESS:
CONSIDER REVISION TO OPTIONS MANUAL, SECTION 6.000, COLORADO WORKS IN WELD
COUNTY AND CHILD CARE POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: Judy Griego, Director of Department of
Social Services, stated this revision will clarify and ensure the Department pays a maximum number of
absences for the purposes of child care payments of up to five days with a verifiable medical reason.
Commissioner Vaad moved to approve said revision. Commissioner Jerke seconded the motion,
which carried unanimously.
CONSIDER FOUR REVISED NOTIFICATION OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AWARDS FOR
VARIOUS PROGRAMS AND AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO SIGN - ACKERMAN AND ASSOCIATES, P.C.:
Ms. Griego stated the Department has negotiated lower rates for four programs with Ackerman and
Associates, P.C., as detailed in the memorandum, dated March 3, 2003. Commissioner Vaad moved
to approve said revised awards and authorize the Chair to sign. Seconded by Commissioner Masden,
the motion carried unanimously.

Let the minutes reflect that the above and foregoing actions were attested to and respectfully
submitted by the Acting Clerk to the Board.
There being no further business, this meeting was adjourned at 9:10 a.m.
