Case#: USA-1416
We are listing below our objections to the above case that requests a zoning change:
1) We want the area to remain agricultural. We moved to this area 2 years ago
to enjoy county living and try to earn a living on our farm. We thought
we left behind the traffic and commercial areas such as that proposed in this case.
2) Road 18 is too traveled now by big trucks and semis coming off of Rd. 49.
Also causing a problem are the trucks going to the landfill NE of Road 18.
The dust already is at an intolerable level and zoning this property commercial
would magnify an already intolerable situation. The business proposed for the
property is bad enough, but once it is zoned commercial who knows what the
future will hold. Traveling Road 18 is already dangerous because the semis
travel at high rates of speed throwing rocks into windshields, and they practically
blow you off the road.
3) Since they propose to warehouse the fireworks in semi-trailers, this will give
the property the appearance of a shanty town and will end up looking like a
dump, resulting in the devaluation of property in close proximity.
4) The manufacture of fireworks will add to the pollution which is already a problem
because of the dust off Road 18. The emission of smoke and chemicals=pot
help but add to the pollution problem.
5) The road grader does a very poor job of maintaining the road now. Increased
traffic will make the washboard road even more so. If the Stonebrakers were
required to pave Road 18, that would at least eliminate the dust and the surface
of the road would not be able to develop the wash board problem.
6) With water already at a premium in this area, the addition of a manufactiirjng
operation would be detrimental to an already dire situation.
7) Anytime you are working with chemicals and your sewage goes into a septic
system, contamination of the surrounding ground is bound to happen. The EPA
should be involved in the investigation of this request.
We are definitely opposed to this rezoning. 1
