RE: APPROVE PETITION FOR ABATEMENT OR REFUND OF TAXES - RONALD AND
PEGGY ELLIOTT
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, State of Colorado, at
a duly and lawfully called regular meeting held on the 4th day of August, 2003, at which meeting
there were present the following members: Chair David E. Long and Commissioners M. J.
Geile, William H. Jerke, Robert D. Masden, and Glenn Vaad, and
WHEREAS, notice of such meeting and an opportunity to be present has been given to
the taxpayer and the Assessor of said County, and said Assessor, Stan Sessions, being
represented by Mike Sampson, and taxpayer Ronald and Peggy Elliott, not being present, and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners have carefully considered the attached
petition, and are fully advised in relation thereto.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Weld County, Colorado, that the Board concurs with the recommendation of the assessor and
the petition be and hereby is, approved, and an abatement refund be allowed as follows:

Petitioner states that the taxes assessed against the above property for property tax year 2001 and
are incorrect for the following reasons: (Briefly describe the circumstances surrounding the incorrect value or tax.

CHANGED THE LAND FROM VACANT TO IMPROVED FOR 2001. INSPECTION WAS DONE TO ADD SHED FOR
2002, AT THAT TIME WE DISCOVERED A MODULAR ON THE PROPERTY. WE WERE UNSURE AS TO WHEN
THE MODULAR WAS MOVED ON SO WE ADDED FOR 2002.
OWNER PHONED OUR OFFICE 2/24/03 AND CONFIRMED THE MODULAR WAS ADDED TO THE LAND IN
1996 THEREFORE, SHOULD OF BEEN ADDED TO THE TAX ROLL IN 1997. PER CONVERSATION
WITH OWNER I INFORMED HIM WE WOULD ADD THE MODULAR FOR 2001 ALSO. DUE TO VACANT LAND
IS ASSESSED AT 29% AND RESIDENTIAL LAND IS 9. 15% THE LAND VALUE WENT FROM $23,140
TO $7,300. AN OMITTED VALUE FORM WAS FILLED INTERNALY TO ADD THE MODULAR FOR 2001.

This is to advise you that the Weld County Board of Commissioners will hear your petition for

The meeting is scheduled for August 4,2003,at 9:00 a.m., in the First Floor Meeting Room,Weld
County Centennial Center, 915 10th Street, Greeley, Colorado.
The Assessor is recommending that the Board approve your petition. You are not required to be
present at this hearing, however,this is your opportunity to have your position heard, especially if
your position is opposed to the Assessor's recommendation. If you intend to submit any
