This issue has been referred to our Public Works Department. They are aware of the problem and have requested additional time to investigate the drainage patterns around your property. This investigation could take another four to six weeks. It will likely involve surveying the area and some preliminary engineering work. If you have further questions regarding this issue, please feel free to contact Keith Meyer, Engineering Division Manager, at 970-356-4000 ext. 3750. Thank you for your patience with this matter. These are three residential properties located on the 3outhwest corner of Roads 27 and 2 1/2. The purpose of this letter is to inform you of very serious flooding problems that have developed in our area in the past few years. Then I purchased an acre of land and built rly home in 1960, this area was open farm land. In the years following industry has been allowed to come in, not by our choice, with the re-grading of land, applying black top, hard surfaces, parking areas, etc., with little thought of the drainage problems it would create. .eater now drains north to road 2 1/2, then east to road 27. Having no place to go, it then backs up into our properties,Ilorth 5th. Ave. also drains water from the south end of the industrial park and then into this same area. To add to this problem, road 2 1./2 has been regraded in the past and black—toppedti most recently this fall, creating a higher dam, as- water did originally flow over the road: In the rainstorm we had this fall the water level rose within-! 4 inches of flooding our wells and our basements and was well below road level. Enclosed are pictures taken from road 2 1/2 following one of the snows we 1-:ad t:-is spring. rater is shown flowing from No. 5th. Ave. and the B. J. Industries parking lots going east to Rd 27 and the area referred to above. Also shown is 1r. Colpitts yard, which was even more flooded in the last rain we had. There are no culverts or drain ditches and very few retention ponds in this area. Vie would appreciate prompt serious consideration-r, f`•this-:prbb am which we believe is a disaster waiting to happen.
