RE: APPROVE AGREEMENT FOR WEST NILE VIRUS COMCAST MARKETING
CAMPAIGN AND AUTHORIZE CHAIR TO SIGN -AT&T MEDIA SERVICES
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Board has been presented with an Agreement for a West Nile Virus
Comcast Marketing Campaign between the County of Weld, State of Colorado, by and through
the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, on behalf of the Weld County Department
of Public Health and Environment, and AT&T Media Services, commencing May 17, 2003, and
ending July 27, 2003, with further terms and conditions being as stated in said agreement, and
WHEREAS, after review, the Board deems it advisable to approve said agreement, a
copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Weld County, Colorado, that the Agreement for a West Nile Virus Comcast Marketing
Campaign between the County of Weld, State of Colorado, by and through the Board of County
Commissioners of Weld County, on behalf of the Weld County Department of Public Health and
Environment, and AT&T Media Services be, and hereby is, approved.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board that the Chair be, and hereby is, authorized
to sign said agreement.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted
by the following vote on the 28th day of May, A.D., 2003.

SUBJECT: Agreement for West Nile Comcast marketing campaign
Enclosed for Board review and approval is the agreement between Weld County Department of
Public Health and Environment and Comcast cable to air West Nile prevention messages on
cable during June, July and August, 2003. The broadcast coverage includes the cities of Greeley,
Windsor, Evans, La Salle,portions of Erie and includes surrounding unincorporated areas.
The 5 different media messages are based on the state wide public information campaign: Fight
the Bite, Join the Swat team to prevent West Nile virus. They were developed through a joint
effort with the City of Greeley and Mirage productions. The cable contract provides for 675
thirty-second spots to air these messages in a mixed frequency including primetime and the
Weather Channel. The total amount due for these services is $5000.00, based on an airtime rate
of$7.00 per spot.
Cable television is one of the most cost effective strategies for reaching a large and diverse
audience in Weld County with our prevention message. I recommend your approval of this
agreement.
