Home My WebLink About20031248.tiff RESOLUTION RE: DECLARE CERTAIN EQUIPMENT AS SURPLUS PROPERTY, AND AUTHORIZE DONATION OF SAME TO WASHINGTON-YUMA COMBINED COMMUNICATIONS CENTER WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and WHEREAS, State statute and the Weld County Code require that all items disposed of be declared surplus by the Board of County Commissioners, and WHEREAS, the County has determined that certain equipment, described as consoles, being more fully described in Exhibit A, which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference, are no longer required for County use, and WHEREAS, the Board has been presented with a request from the Washington-Yuma Combined Communications Center for use of said equipment, and WHEREAS, the Board deems it advisable to declare said equipment as surplus and approve the donation of said equipment. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, that the abovementioned equipment be, and hereby is, declared surplus. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board that said equipment, as described in Exhibit A, be, and hereby is, donated to the Washington-Yuma Combined Communications Center. The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted by the following vote on the 19th day of May, A.D., 2003. We have just started having problems with our radio equipment the past few months.This equipment is the original equipment installed in the Communications Center and we are finding that the consoles we have are no longer a production model with Zetron. This means that we cannot get the technological support that we need to stay a stable Center for our emergency services here in Northeastern Colorado.Andy has been doing our work and we are very pleased with all of the ideas and help.He has advised us that you would be changing out your system and,even though the technology may not be any newer that what we are currently using,it would serve our purposes for some time.With the number of consoles you have in your backup center we would be able to equip our existing center.This would allow us some time to save for a newer technology in the future. Upon the recommendation of Advanced Wireless Communications we are sending you this letter to see if there may be a possibility of us,thru some type of arrangement to dismantle the standby I emergency dispatch center you have and convert this to our needs here at the Washington Yuma Combined Communications Center. Because Washington and Yuma are sparsely populated Counties our funds become somewhat taxed.We are aware of the technology that is coming and want very much to become a part of it.Using your equipment for a few years will allow us some time in which we can build our reserves.
