I am writing to you today about your Commission Agreement with AT&T for operator
services ("0+" calls). As you are aware, there has been, and continues to be, a sharp decline in
the amount of 0+ calls placed from public payphones and in-room telephones. This reduction of
usage is the result of consumers choosing to use wireless phones, prepaid cards, and electronic
mail for communication needs. This change in consumer behavior has led to an annual decline of
50% in 0+traffic in recent years and is expected to continue to decline at the same rate. Because
of these trends AT&T has decided to discontinue its commission program as agreements expire.
If your Commission Agreement contains a fixed expiration date, this letter is to inform
you that AT&T will not offer a new commission agreement after your current Commission
Agreement expires. If your Commission Agreement has an automatic renewal option (for
example, a one-year renewal option), AT&T is exercising its right not to allow your agreement to
extend past the scheduled expiration date. This letter serves as your legal notice of AT&T's
decision.
AT&T will continue to pay you commissions up to the expiration date of your agreement.
Your final commission payment will be mailed to you in the month following the expiration date.
AT&T will continue to carry your 0+ calls and provide your customers and guests with
the value and quality services they expect from AT&T. However, you may choose another 0+
carrier at any time. The expiration of your 0+ Commission Agreement will have no impact on
the direct dialed long distance(1+) service you have selected for your telephones,and no action is
required on your part to maintain 0+and 1+services.
