RE: APPROVE REDUCTION OF SPEED LIMIT AND INSTALLATION OF TRAFFIC
CONTROL DEVICES ON WELD COUNTY ROAD 13, SOUTH OF THE MUNICIPAL
BOUNDARY OF THE TOWN OF JOHNSTOWN
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners has the authority, pursuant to
Section 42-4-1102(2), C. R. S., to reduce the speed on Weld County Roads from that set forth
in Section 42-4-1101, C. R. S., to a speed which the Board deems is reasonable and safe
under the road and traffic conditions then existing, and
WHEREAS, the Board determines that the speed limit for vehicles traveling upon Weld
County Road 13, south of the municipal boundary of the Town of Johnstown, between the
approximate locations of the intersections of Weld County Roads 13 and 46.5, and Weld
County Roads 13 and 40.5, should be set at 45 miles per hour, because of the increased
volume of traffic thereon.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Weld County, Colorado, that the speed limit for vehicles traveling upon Weld County Road 13,
south of the municipal boundary of the Town of Johnstown, between the approximate locations
of the intersections of Weld County Roads 13 and 46.5, and Weld County Roads 13 and 40.5,
be, and hereby is, set at 45 miles per hour.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board that Weld County Department of Public
Works be, and hereby is, directed to install appropriate speed limit signs to correspond with the
speed as set herein, said signs to conform to the standards thereof set forth in the State
Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted
by the following vote on the 6th day of August, A.D., 2003.
