In accordance with your advice, this letter is submitted for Planning Department staff review in this matter. AmUSR-897 is an approved special use permit for gravel mining and concrete and asphalt batch plants. The subject property is located south of"O" Street between 83rd and 71'Avenues. As noted in Exhibit D of the Division of Minerals and Geology Permit, referenced in and submitted with the USR application, a number of facilities are associated with these uses. We have been working with the County Building Department and obtaining appropriate building and electrical permits for these facilities as they are moved to the site. The lab facility is a 12-foot by 32-foot temporary structure that will be removed from the site upon completion of operations under the USR. It is not set on a foundation, and the only utility associated with its use will be electricity. Based on that information, we were under the impression that only an electrical permit was needed, and the structure was delivered to the site and anchored earlier this week. While attempting to obtain a permit to proceed with the electrical work, we were advised that our USR does not specifically provide for inclusion of the lab facility in our operations. The lab facility is an integral part of operations under the approved uses of AmUSR-897. It is used strictly for materials testing and documentation by one quality control testing employee and is not an added impact. As such, we respectfully request the Planning Department's acceptance of this letter for filing with the approved Special Review Permit and a favorable determination that incorporation of this facility into AmUSR-897 does not represent a significant change to the approved use.
