HomeMy WebLinkAbout20030711.tiff I Minutes _*- 1 3 J RI 2: 35 WELD COUNTY COUNCIL , March 25, 2003 �` ('`- -� The Weld County Council met in regular session in full conformity with the Weld County Home Rule Charter at Weld County Centennial Center, 915 101h Street, Greeley, CO, Tuesday, March 25, 2003, 6:30 p.m. ROLL CALL: The meeting was called to order by Vice President Douglas Rademacher. Councilman Dwaine Kurtz and Councilman Chip Marks were present, constituting a quorum of the members. Councilman William Sander arrived at 6:33 p.m. President Mitchell Martin was excused. Also present: the Council secretary, Bev Thomas. AGENDA ADDITIONS/APPROVAL: The agenda was approved as printed. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: A motion was made to approve the February 18, 2003 minutes. The motion was seconded and carried. PUBLIC COMMENT: There was no public comment. NEW BUSINESS: Weld County Services During Recent Blizzard & Gas Explosion Council members discussed their observations regarding snow removal during the March 2003 Blizzard. They expressed that in a difficult situation, Weld County's response was adequate. The March 23rd explosion of a main gas line west of Eaton, CO was also considered. Councilman Dwaine Kurtz who lives less than 1.5 miles from the explosion reported that first responders' arrival time at the explosion sight was excellent. However, "on lookers" created a difficult traffic situation for emergency vehicles following the incident. Vice President Douglas Rademacher reported that Weld County's communication system served emergency personnel well during both emergencies, though the Communications Center was overwhelmed with residents' reporting the gas explosion. CORRESPONDENCE: Council members reviewed the correspondence. (o J ye V.2/- O/D03 .9(es-L'2// Weld County Council Minutes March 25,2003 Page 2 of 2 COORDINATOR REPORTS: March 10 Elected Officials Meeting Councilman Dwaine Kurtz and Vice President Rademacher reported they had attended the March 10 Elected Officials Meeting. The meeting included a tour of the newly- opened Weld County Sheriffs Administration Offices on O Street in Greeley. March 20th Commissioners' Meeting RE: Northern Colorado Medical Center Councilman Dwaine Kurtz reported he attended the March 20th meeting called by Weld County Commissioners regarding the relationship of Northern Colorado Medical Center (NCMC) with its management company, Banner Health. Councilman Kurtz stated two Banner representatives presented information at the meeting and two NCMC board members were also in attendance. Banner Health and NCMC Board members responded to questions by residents and the Commissioners about plans, finances, the Poudre Valley Hospital relationship to NCMC, and other planning, staffing and financial issues. March Weed Board Meeting Vice President Rademacher attended the March Weed Board meeting to inquire about new species being added to the noxious weed list. PAYMENT OF THE BILLS: A motion was made a motion to approve the payment of the bills as listed: Mileage for Councilman Chip Marks $ 28.56 Mileage for Councilman Douglas Rademacher $ 57.12 Mileage for Councilman Will Sander $ 5.44 South Weld Sun Legal Notice $ 21.75 Longmont Times Call Subscription $216.00 Loren Printing for Business Cards $ 22.20 The motion was seconded and carried.
