RE: ESTABLISHMENT OF PEST CONTROL DISTRICT KNOWN AS THE
PRAIRIE-VIEW PEST CONTROL DISTRICT AND APPOINTMENT OF
ADVISORY BOARD
WHEREAS , the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, pursuant to Colorado Statute and the Weld County Home
Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the
affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of Title 25 , Article 5 ,
CRS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado,
caused a ballot to be mailed to landowners in a given area,
requesting establishment of the Prairie-View Pest Control
District for the eradication of grasshoppers, and
WHEREAS, the statute requires that at least sixty-six and
two-thirds percent (66 2/3%) of the resident landowners and
lessees must vote in favor of the district and that said
landowners and lessees own or lease fifty percent (50%) of the
land in the proposed district (excluding acreage owned by the
federal government or acreage owned by the state government not
subject to a lease) , in order that it be established, and
WHEREAS, the report of the accounting committee indicates
that these requirements have been met, and
WHEREAS, the Board believes it to be in the best interests
of the County to establish said district.
WHEREAS , the Cooperative Extension Service has recommended
persons with practical knowledge of pest control who
geographically represent the district.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County
Commissioners of Weld County, that the Prairie-View Pest Control
District be, and the same is hereby established, said area being
more particularly as set forth in the Exhibit "A, " attached
hereto and made a part of this Resolution by reference.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said District shall be
established for a period beginning this date and to remain in
effect until May 1 , 1989.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that those persons listed in the
attached letter marked as Exhibit B, are appointed to the
District advisory committee.
The above and foregoing resolution was, on motion duly made
and seconded, adopted by the following vote on the 25th day of
April , A.D. , 1984 .

Dear Board of County Commissioners:
In a resolution you accepted the petitions from over 25 percent of resident
landowners in the proposed Prairie View Pest Control District to call for
an election of all landowners and leasees of state leased land to see
if they were in favor or against organizing a pest control district for
grasshopper control .
You directed the Weld County Extension Service to prepare ballots and
mail them to all landowners and leasees of state leased land. This was
done and ballots were mailed on March 14, 1984.
We counted the ballots and verification of acres on March 26, 1984 and
found 22 in favor and 9 opposed with a total of 24,603 acres valid.
There are 74,260 acres in the proposed district. A letter from the
U.S. Forest Service verifies there are 28,743 acres of federal land
within the boundary. This means that there are 45,497 acres of private
and state leased land in the district. They have to vote 50 percent
of the private and state leased land and 66 2/3 of those voting have
to vote in favor.
All of these requirements have been met to establish a Pest Control
District in the Prairie View District.
The counting committee verifies that the above figures and dates are
correct to the best of our knowledge.
