Box 758 Greeley, Colorado 80632 COLORADO May 27, 2003 Carolyn Holmes 23140 WCR 50 LaSalle, CO 80645 RE: Weld County Road (WCR) 50 between WCR 47 and WCR 49 Dear Ms. Holmes: Thank you for your letter of May 13, 2003, stating your concerns on WCR 50. At your May 14, 2003, site meeting with Mel Everhart, the items below were discussed. I hope this satisfies your concerns. The recent elevation of the road has been completed; therefore, there should be no further affect on your mail box. Mel has inspected the borrow ditch and concludes that it is adequate for the road drainage. The County specification for gravel road width is a minimum of 24 feet. WCR 50 between WCR 47 and WCR 49 is adequate in width except for a distance of 300 feet from your mail box west. The road is narrow at this point due to a previous washout. The motor grader supervisor has scheduled the widening of this road section by the end of the summer. The motor grader operator has removed the excess material from the bridge as much as possible to benefit the line of vision to the east. It is the County's procedure that the motor grader operator cleans the windrows near driveways. An effort will be made to remedy this problem. Please call Mel Everhart, Motor Grader Supervisor, at (970)356-4000, Ext. 3750, if you have any questions or need further information. Sincerely, BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS David E. Long, Chair pc: Frank B. Hempen, Jr.,P.E. '- 915 Tenth - ? Creeley, CO 806.31 Re: Weld County Road 50 and 47 Dear T.:r. ^iasden: I 'm writing per my phone message I left for you yesterday, May 12 , 2003. I am addressing this letter to you as I. am not sure who in Public Works you directed my inquiry to. I thought I. should follow-up with a letter so I have documentation in case something comes up in the future. We have lived at our present location on County Road 50 since Fall , 1975 , and I have never been a complainer. However, three or four years ago I did talk to our grader person, Jeff. Barker, because he was burying our mailboxes. He expla.inec' what we needed to dn , and my husband fixed the mailboxes to Jeff's instructions -- our mailboxes are still being buried. I do not know Jeff personally, but am sure he is a nice person. However , I truly do not think he knows anything about how to grade roads . I do not claim to have this knowledge either, but I do know that it is not as it should be. The road has gotten slot narrower (I do not believe it's according to State code) , and when it rains it noesn't drain right in the barrow-pits. The major problem is he leaves a windrow in our driveway that is getting ridiculously out-of-hand. We are loosing our line-of-vision to the east which .is a concern because if anyone aver got hit driving out of our driveway, the County could have a lawsuit on their hands. I trust these concerns can be remedied , and I thank you for your assistance in the matter. Sincerely, , ' 1 Q Carolyn Holmes P. S. Also it seems like the County could save money by black- topping the two miles of Road 47 from Road 50 to Road 54, instead of going to the expense of putting that crap cn it every single year. Hello
