RESOLUTION
RE: APPROVAL OF INTERGOVERMENTAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY
OF GREELEY AND THE WELD COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE AND
AUTHORIZATION FOR THE CHAIRMAN TO SIGN SAID AGREEMENT
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home
Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the
affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the City of Greeley desires to hire off-duty
officers of the Sheriff's Office to assist and supplement
its own police force in control of the annual Fourth of July
celebration at Island Grove Park, and
WHEREAS, the City of Greeley desires that such off-duty
officers of the Sheriff's Office be allowed to engage in such
employment with the City of Greeley in the Weld County Sheriff' s
Department uniforms, and
WHEREAS, the Sheriff has no objection to said deputies
engaging in such employment and allowing said deputies to
engage in such employment while in the uniform of the Weld
County Sheriff' s Office so long as the City of Greeley agrees
to indemnify and hold harmless the Sheriff and the County of
Weld for any damages which may result to any person because
of any act engaged in by such deputies during the course of
such employment or as a result of such employment.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County
Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, that the intergovern-
mental agreement between the Weld County Sheriff' s Department
and the City of Greeley, Colorado, concerning the employment
of off-duty officers of the Sheriff' s Department for assist-
ance to the City of Greeley's police force for the control of
the annual Fourth of July celebration activities be, and hereby
is, approved.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board that the Chairman
of the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado,
be authorized to sign said agreement.

INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT
THIS AGREEMENT is made and entered into this 24th day of
June , 1981 by and between the WELD COUNTY SHERIFF, hereinafter
referred to as "Sheriff" and the CITY OF GREELEY, hereinafter
referred to as "City. "
WHEREAS, City desires to hire off-duty officers of Sheriff
to assist and supplement its own police force in control of the
annual Fourth of July celebration at Island Grove Park, and
WHEREAS, City desires that such off-duty officers of Sheriff
be allowed to engage in such employment with City in the Weld
County Sheriff' s Department uniforms, and
WHEREAS, Sheriff has no objection to said deputies engaging
in such employment and allowing said deputies to engage in such
employment while in the uniform of the Weld County Sheriff' s
Office so long as City agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the
Sheriff and the County of Weld for any damages which may result
to any person because of any act engaged in by such deputies
during the course of such employment or as a result of such
employment.
NOW, THEREFORE, for and in consideration of the mutual pro-
mises and agreements set forth herein, the parties hereto agree
as follows:
1. Sheriff agrees to allow Sheriff' s deputies to engage
in employment with City during off-duty hours to assist
and supplement City' s police force in control of the
1981 Fourth of July celebration and Independence Stampede
celebration at Island Grove Park. In addition, Sheriff
specifically authorizes such officers who engage in such
employment to wear the regular uniforms of the Weld
County Sheriff' s Office during such employment.
2. The City agrees to indemnify and hold Sheriff and the
County of Weld, State of Colorado, harmless for any
negligent acts engaged in by officers of the Sheriff
while engaged in such employment with City and further
agrees that should equipment or uniforms of Sheriff
be damaged or destroyed during the course of such
employment, that City shall reimburse Sheriff for the
full replacement or restoration costs of such items.
Should the County of Weld or the Sheriff be named as
a Defendant in any suit involving such employment,
City agrees to reimburse County, in addition to any
other costs associated with the defense of such suit,
reasonable attorney' s fees, based upon the actual cost
of obtaining such defense to the County of Weld or
Sheriff.
3. City agrees that all salaries or other benefits accruing
to such deputies by reason of such employment shall be
paid by City.

Intergovernmental Agreement
Attached is the Intergovernmental Agreement between the City of
Greeley and the Weld County Sheriff which I have prepared con-
cerning the 4th of July celebration at Island Grove Park.
Please look over the Agreement and make any changes which you
feel are necessary. I have retained the original in my office.
