RE: Weld County Road (WCR) 41 Grading
Dear Ms. Jackson:
Thank you for your letter received April 13, 2004, stating your concerns on WCR 41.
The work that was performed on WCR 41 between WCR 4 and WCR 8 was a project to upgrade the drainage,
widen the road, and improve the base. As a part of this process, the motor grader operator pulled dirt from the
side to the top of the road. This material would not have provided a satisfactory driving surface during wet
weather; therefore, gravel was added. The gravel does tend to become washboard in dry weather, but it is
necessary for the previously stated reason. Mel Everhart, Motor Grader Supervisor, drove the road and found
some washboard areas at the intersection of WCR 4 and WCR 41. The remainder of the road is in good
condition. This road is scheduled for weekly maintenance, and the road condition will continue to be
monitored.
The concerns on dust control would not be solved by withholding the gravel, and the traffic counts are not high
enough to warrant dust control measures.
I hope this satisfies your concerns. Please call Mel Everhart if you have any questions or need further
information.
Sincerely,
BOARDD OF
COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

Dear Commissioner, -e4c
I wrote you a letter not too-long ago telling you
about the road in front of my house,I live at 1272 WCR
41, Hudson CO 80642. I want to thank you for
responding to my letter, they fixed the things I told you
about, then they came out and worked on this road for at
least a month off and on, and I thought they were really
going to do it right this time. After they got done grading
and building p the road, what did they do?, they put
gravel on it nuined it It is so rough, you can hardly
drive on it. I don't understand what the point is to put
gravel that brakes your windows, and dents youe cars,
and shakes them to death. It is Just like a good old
fashon wash board, really hard on can. Even though
they barely have to move, or drive really fast, thinking it
wont shake as bad, neither one works. Also the dirt is so
bad, you can't breath. It seems to me something more
can be done. Come out and see for yourself. If this is
frontage road why isn't it like every other frontage road?
Very dissapointed, and concerned,
Patty Jackson
