RE: APPROVE INSTALLATION OF TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES ON 11TH AND 12TH
STREETS AT 77TH AVENUE
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Weld County Department of Public Works has recommended to the
Board that Stop and Stop Ahead signs be installed on 11th and 12th Streets at 77th Avenue, to
ensure safety to the traveling public, and
WHEREAS, the Board has determined that said traffic control devices are necessary for
the protection of the general public.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Weld County, Colorado, that the Department of Public Works be, and hereby is, directed to
install Stop and Stop Ahead signs on 11th and 12th Streets at 77th Avenue, for the safety of the
general public, and said signs shall conform to the State Manual of Uniform Traffic Control
Devices.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted
by the following vote on the 2nd day of February, A.D., 2004.

SUBJECT: Stop Signs—77th Ave at 11"' and 12th St.
COLORADO
I was advised of an unsafe condition at the intersections of 77th Ave. and 11th and 12th St. by Marc
Street, Weld County Supervisor. According to Marc, a new subdivision has developed on the west
side of 77th Ave. within Greeley's City limits. (See attached map) Stop signs have been placed on
11th and 12th St. as they intersect with 77`h Ave. from the west.
Prior to the new development, 11th St. intersected with 77th Ave. as a tee intersection and 12th St.and
77th Ave. intersected with a curve. This was probably sufficient when 11 th and 12th St. did not cross
77th Ave. Since they now cross 77th Ave. additional signing may be warranted.
Based upon a site review and the changes to the intersections on the west side of 77th Ave., it is my
recommendation to place stop signs on 11th and 12th St. as they approach 77th Ave. from the east,
which will create a two way stopped condition onto 77th Ave.
