The proposal, which is slated to appear before the Weld County Planning Commission in mid-July, would allow the company to operate a 14-acre facility which will consist of one asphalt plant, one concrete plant, conveyors and an office trailer. The proposed site is located one-fourth of a mile north of WCR 6 and a half mile south of WCR 8.The plant will be in operation six days a week, with a tentative schedule for processing and truck hauling from 6:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. In the application to the county, Asphalt Specialties estimates that there will be a projected 320 truck trips a day. The type of trucks includes tractor-trailers, tandem dump trucks (doubles) and cement mixers. The application said, "Access to the site will be from WCR 27, just north of the existing residence located in the southwest corner of the property" The trucks will travel to HWY 85 via WCR 6 or WCR 8. Weld County Planning Commission representa- tive Chris Ghehman said the company had agreed to pro- vide all drivers with training specific to the location. Since the proposed plant is outside of city limits, city government won't have a direct vote on the project. Howev- er, Ghehman said the surrounding municipalities, includ- ing Fort Lupton, had the opportunity to submit referrals before the Weld County Planning Commission.
