WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and WHEREAS,the Board has been presented with an Amendment to Child Care Development Agreement for Services between the County of Weld,State of Colorado,by and through the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, on behalf of the Department of Social Services, and United Way of Weld County, Inc.,commencing July 1,2003,and ending June 30,2004,with further terms and conditions being as stated in said amendment, and WHEREAS,after review,the Board deems it advisable to approve said amendment,a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference. NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, ex-officio Board of Social Services, that the Amendment to Child Care Development Agreement for Services between the County of Weld, State of Colorado, by and through the Board of CountyCommissioners of Weld County,on behalf of the Department of Social Services, and United Way of Weld County, Inc. be, and hereby is, approved. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board that the Chair be, and hereby is, authorized to sign said amendment. This Amendment, made and entered into the 5`gt-day of May 2004,by and between the Board of County Commissioners, on behalf of the Weld County Department of Social services, hereinafter referred to as"Social Services,"and United Way of Weld County, Inc., hereinafter referred to as the"Contractor." WITNESSETH WHEREAS, the parties desire to modify their current Agreement(PY04-CCDI) in order to increase its funding and services;and WHEREAS, Social Services has budgeted,appropriated, and otherwise made available; and WHEREAS,required approval, clearance,and coordination have been accomplished from and with appropriate agencies. NOW THEREFORE, in consideration of the premises,the parties hereto covenant and agree as follow: 1. Exhibit A, Chart of Goals,Objectives,Timelines, and Accountability, will be revised and supplemented by the addition of Exhibit A,Revision April 2004. 2. Exhibit A, Section E,Budget Narrative, will be revised to increase the budget by $8,000, as Exhibit A,Section E,Revised March 9,2004 Budget Narrative. This Amendment, together with the original Child Care Development Agreement for Services, constitutes the entire understanding among the parties with respect to the subject matter hereof, and may not be changed or modified except as stated in the Child Care Development Agreement for Services. The activities that we propose to expend the additional $8,000 are outlined as follows: Goal 1 - Improve the quality of child care available to children and families in Weld Cqufjy Objective I. Wecruiting 30 new child care providers to create 240 new slots. Objective 2: 19 new providers will receive training and incentives in the 6-month mentor/mentee program Activities Timing Measurement Distribute Combined Newsletter to provider On-going Newsletters will be disbursed community to advertise upcoming training and a record kept of number opportunities (Includes information from Dept. of distributed and trainings Social Services, Aims Community College, United marketed through this effort. Griego, Director, Social Services a cfry RE: Amendment of Child Care Development A eement for Services Between the Weld County Depai Intent of Social Services and United Way of Weld County, Inc. Enclosed for Board approval is an Amendment of a Child Care Development Agreement for Services between the Weld County Department of Social Services (Department) and United Way of Weld County, Inc. (United Way). The Agreement was discussed and reviewed at the Board's Work Session of April 26, 2004. On March 26, 2004,the Department was notified by the Colorado Department of Human Services of a funding increase of$8,000 under the Child Care Quality Expansion Grant and received a purchase order from the State Depaitutent to expand our project and complete it by June 30, 2004. As a result, the Department is amending its present Child Care Development Agreement with United Way totaling $32,000 to $40,000 to effect the pass-through of these increased funds to United Way. United Way continues to be responsible for the required local match. The increased funding would be used as follows: A. Combined newsletter, increase copying expenses $1,000 B. Accreditation costs for child care centers $5,000 C. Speaker fees, county-wide training $1,000 D. Tuition and books $1,000 Total $8,000 All other aspects of the current Agreement would remain the same including the term of July 1, 2003 through June 30, 2004.
