RE: Violation of Designated Haul Route for Gravel Operations
Dear Mr. Varra:
In the Road Maintenance and Improvements Agreement for all of your pits located adjacent to Weld County
Road (WCR) 13 and WCR 26 primarily in Section 31, Township 3 North, Range 67 West of the 6th P.M., Weld
County, Colorado, all identify the same haul route. WCR 13 between WCR 24 and State Highway 66 and
WCR 26 on the point of ingress/egress east to WCR 13.
A written response is required from you within 10 days of receiving this letter on how Varra Companies, Inc., is
ensuring the use of the haul route by both your trucks and contract (independent) trucks.
A substantial amount of citizen complaints have been received by Weld County prompting us to send this
notice.
Notice is hereby given that if trucks from your gravel pit operation utilize the non-designated gravel roads within
this area, your gravel permits will be subject to a probable cause public hearing pursuant to Chapter 23, Article
II, (2), Division 4, Section 23-2-270 of the Weld County Code. This meeting will take place in the
Commissioners Hearing Room at the Weld County Centennial Center located at 915 10th Street, Greeley,
Colorado.
The purpose of the public hearing will be to review your USR case Nos. located within Section 31, Township 3
North, Range 67 West for compliance with the development standards as approved by the Board of County
Commissioners through your Road Maintenance and Improvements Agreements (designated haul route).
