This request was made with the belief that the State of Colorado would grant a 100% tax exemption to the Windsor Medical Center for the year 2003. That is not what transpired. The State ruled that there is no possessory interest, and required the Weld County Assessor to classify the Windsor Medical Center as 84% taxable (the leased space) and 16% exempt (the space occupied by the owner) for the year 2003. Consequently, the leased space is doubled assessed. Therefore we have enclosed a completed petition for abatement or refund which will allow the County Treasury to refund any 2003 taxes paid on your possessory interest tax bill. Please sign and return the petition to the Assessor's Office in the self addressed envelope provided. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and hope this will conclude this matter. Sincerely, Stan Jantz Commercial Appraiser Weld County Assessor's Office Hello
