It is becoming increasingly rare to find such an amazing place. I will not argue that Mr. and Mrs. Schneider have the right to sell some of their property to enjoy a less stressful way of life. It does worry me about the precedence that will be set for more homes to be built. Frederick has become a direct neighbor to my east, with the possibility of multiple homes. Why not preserve this area as many of our farming neighbors have done by offering their property as Open Space? Our schools are beyond capacity and water will always have to be a concern. With the development pressures that exist in Longmont, Erie, Firestone, Frederick and Dacono there is precious little open space that can be used to prevent these cities from merging into a gargantuan suburban sprawl. Once developed, these areas are gone forever. Approval of this request will set the precedent for further development in this area. Please keep new development in the growth boundaries of the existing cities. Failure to do so will destroy wildlife habitat, exacerbate problems of pollution, transportation, water use and infrastructure and will undermine the quality of life for all who live in this region. Even city dwellers look to agricultural land and open space for respite from their congested environs. I urge you to visualize two very different futures for this area. For the first vision drive out to the corner of County Line Road and Weld County Road 18. Take a drive down WCR 18 and then down WCR 16 and look around at what is now a very special place. For the second vision drive down to the middle of Aurora or Littleton or Lakewood and take another look around. This is the future that awaits us if no one prevents it. Preserving the agricultural land and open space in our corner of Weld County for future generations requires careful scrutiny by all involved in the planning process. Thank you for considering these comments and concerns. Sincerely, Terry Krafft 547 Weld County Road 18 Longmont, CO 80504 1 Hello
