COLORADO RE: Stop Sign Request—Intersection of WCR 15 and WCR 80
I have received several concerns about this intersection. Currently, the intersection is not controlled. The
main problem is the corn that is creating a sight distance problem in all directions. I visited the sight and
witnessed several vehicles drive through the intersection without regard to possible intersecting traffic.
This is a dangerous condition.
The MUTCD gives guidance on applications of stop signs. I am recommending that stop signs be placed
on WCR 15 at WCR 80 based upon meeting the following warrants under Section 2B.05, Stop Sign
Applications:
A. Intersections of a less important road with a main road where application of the normal
right-of-way rule would not be expected to provide reasonable compliance with the
law.
D. High speeds, restricted view, or crash records indicate a need for control by the Stop
sign.
WCR 80 has been treated with dust suppressant and is more of the main through route. No accidents have
been reported at this intersection at this time. The recent traffic counts are shown below. Prior to BOCC
action on this request, I am also recommending that we place
temporary stop signs on WCR 15 at WCR 80. As previously
stated, this is a hazardous condition that demands special attention.
