The Honorable Robert D. Masden
Chairman, Board of County Commissioners of Weld County
915 10th St., P.O. Box 758
Greeley, CO 80632
Dear Commissioner Masden:
Thank you for your letter of January 28th regarding the County's possible inclusion in the Early
Action Compact for Ozone for the Front Range metropolitan area.
Because the letter indicated concerns about how this Compact might affect both Weld and
Larimer counties, I asked my staff to contact Rep. Musgrave -- whose district includes
communities in both of those Counties -- to see if we could approach your request for assistance
in a bipartisan way.
However, I understand that in the meantime your Board of Commissioners decided to sign on to
this Compact although with some reservations.
As you know, ozone is a serious problem in the Front Range region. I hope we can all work
together to help reduce the level of ozone and help keep us under attainment for the ozone
requirements.
Please keep me informed as to how this Compact is working and of any concerns that Weld
County may have regarding its implementation.
Sincerely,
11(\ad1/44..
Mark Udall
