HomeMy WebLinkAbout810774.tiff 2 - 3 S/ RESOLUTION RE: ESTABLISHING A RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT FOR ALL OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES OF THE COUNTY OF WELD WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado desires to establish a residency requirement for all officers and employees of Weld County, and WHEREAS, such a residency requirement would enhance job performance of County employees because such employees would gain greater personal knowledge of County conditions and have a feeling of a personal stake in the County's progress, and WHEREAS, such a residency requirement would diminish absenteeism and tardiness of County employees, and WHEREAS, such residency requirement would provide for ready availability of County personnel in case of emergency, and WHEREAS, such a residency requirement would promote economic stimulation of the Weld County economy because of the expenditure of salaries in Weld County. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Com- missioners of Weld County, Colorado that the Weld County Personnel Policy Manual is hereby amended by the addition of the following: "1.26 All officers and employees of Weld County, as a condition of their employment and as a condition of their continued employment by Weld County, shall be domiciled within the boundaries of the County of Weld, provided however, that new employees of the County shall have six months from the date upon which they first report for work in which to establish such domicile. Persons who were County employees on February 23, 1981 , and who commute to work on a daily basis from their domiciles outside of Weld County, shall not be required to establish a residence in Weld County as a condition of their continued employment. If such employee changes his place of domicile subsequent to the enactment of this policy, he shall be required to change his domi- cile to the County of Weld. The Board 810774 of County Commissioners , in cases of extreme hardship shown, may waive such residency requirement or extend the time within which an employee must become domiciled within Weld County. After February 23, 1981, all applications for employment with Weld County shall bear a notice setting forth this policy. " The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted by the following vote on the 23rd day of February, A.D. , 1981.
