RESOLUTION
RE: ESTABLISHING A RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT FOR ALL OFFICERS AND
EMPLOYEES OF THE COUNTY OF WELD
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home
Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the
affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado desires to establish a residency requirement for all
officers and employees of Weld County, and
WHEREAS, such a residency requirement would enhance job
performance of County employees because such employees would
gain greater personal knowledge of County conditions and have
a feeling of a personal stake in the County's progress, and
WHEREAS, such a residency requirement would diminish
absenteeism and tardiness of County employees, and
WHEREAS, such residency requirement would provide for ready
availability of County personnel in case of emergency, and
WHEREAS, such a residency requirement would promote economic
stimulation of the Weld County economy because of the expenditure
of salaries in Weld County.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Com-
missioners of Weld County, Colorado that the Weld County Personnel
Policy Manual is hereby amended by the addition of the following:
"1.26 All officers and employees of Weld
County, as a condition of their
employment and as a condition of
their continued employment by Weld
County, shall be domiciled within
the boundaries of the County of
Weld, provided however, that new
employees of the County shall have
six months from the date upon which
they first report for work in which
to establish such domicile. Persons
who were County employees on February
23, 1981 , and who commute to work on
a daily basis from their domiciles
outside of Weld County, shall not be
required to establish a residence in
Weld County as a condition of their
continued employment. If such employee
changes his place of domicile subsequent
to the enactment of this policy, he
shall be required to change his domi-
cile to the County of Weld. The Board

extreme hardship shown, may waive
such residency requirement or extend
the time within which an employee
must become domiciled within Weld

all applications for employment with
Weld County shall bear a notice
setting forth this policy. "
