Re: Request for Temporary Variance—Hours of Operation
AmUSR905 —Platte Valley Operation
Dear Kim:
Aggregate Industries,under materials contract number MC-016 with Southeast Corridor Constructors for
Colorado Department of Transportation's I-25 Corridor Reconstruction Project No.358-2103 (TREX),is
supplying material for MSE wall backfill. A total of approximately 300,000 tons of material is to be
supplied to the project twenty-four hours per day,from 5:00 p.m. Sunday through 5:00 p.m. Friday and
during regular hours on Saturday. Material has been supplied to date through an Aggregate Industries site
in Adams County,however those reserves are nearly depleted and Aggregate Industries' Platte Valley site
has been designated to supply the remaining material. It is anticipated that material supply from the Platte
Valley site will continue through December 2004. Trucks will use the existing, approved haul route for
the site,exiting onto Weld County Road 6 east to U.S.Highway 85 and then proceed south into Adams
County. Return trips will reverse this route.
In order to accommodate the terms of the project contract,we respectfully request that the Planning
Department grant a temporary variance from the Platte Valley permit limitation of daylight hours of
operation to allow night truck loading and hauling of material to this project. If you have any questions or
