HomeMy WebLinkAbout800583.tiff RESOLUTION RE: ITEMIZING LEGAL HOLIDAYS DURING CALENDAR YEAR OF 1980 FOR WELD COUNTY LIBRARY. WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and WHEREAS, following is a list of holidays to be observed in 1980 as days when the Weld County Library shall not be open and employees of the Weld County Library shall not be required to work: New Year's Day Tuesday, January 1, 1980 Presidents' Day Monday, February 18, 1980 Manorial Day Monday, May 26, 1980 Independence Day Friday, July 4, 1980 Colorado Day Monday, August 4, 1980 Labor Day Monday, September 1, 1980 Veterans' Day Monday, November 10, 1980 Thanksgiving Day Thursday, Novanber 27, 1980 Christmas Wednesday, December 24, 1980 (replaces Columbus Day) and Thursday, December 25, 1980 WHEREAS, the unique public function served by the Weld County Library requires that the library remain open on Election Day, Tuesday, November 4 , 1980; the day after Thanksgiving, Friday, November 28 , 1980; and the day after Christmas, Friday, December 26 , 1980, and WHEREAS, employees of the Weld County Library are entitled to two (2) days off in addition to the holidays listed above, and WHEREAS, the efficient administration of the Weld County Library requires that employees of the Weld County Library be given a floating day off with pay during 1980 as a replacement for Election Day, and that the employees of the Weld County Library be given a paid day off on either November 28 , 1980 or December 26 , 1980 as may be determined by the administration of the Weld County Library as a replacement for the legal holiday which would ordinarily be observed on Lincoln ' s Birthday. eiaosri:i NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Com- missioners of Weld County, Colorado that the list of holidays set forth above be observed as legal holidays on which the Weld County Library shall be closed and the employees of the Weld County Library shall have the day off. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado that the employees of the Weld County Library be granted a floating day off, with pay, as a replacement for Election Day, and either November 28 , 1980 or December 26 , 1980 as an additional holiday to replace the holiday which would ordinarily be observed on Lincoln' s Birthday. The administra- tion of the Weld County Library shall make the determination of the specific dates on which the employees of the Weld County Library shall take the two holidays listed herein after taking into consideration the wishes of the employee. The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted by the following vote on the 28th day of January, A.D. , 1980 . Steinmark 4 DATE PRESENTED: JANUARY 28 , 1980 ME ORA(1D M To Weld County Commissioners Date January 10, 1980 • COLORADO From Elizabeth Bowers Subject: Holiday schedule for the Weld County Library, 1980 If possible, we should like to have the following holiday schedule for the library in the coming year: NEW YEAR'S DAY Tuesday, January 1, 1980 PRESIDENTS' DAY Monday, February 18, 1980 MEMORIAL DAY Monday, May 26, 1980 INDEPENDENCE DAY Friday, July 4, 1980 COLORADO DAY Monday, August 4, 1980 LABOR DAY Monday, September 1, 1980 VETERANS' DAY Monday, November 10, 1980 THANKSGIVING DAY Thursday, November 27, 1980 CHRISTMAS EVE DAY Wednesday, December 24, 1980 CHRISTMAS DAy Thursday, December 25, 1980 One half of the staff would have Friday, November 28 as a holiday, and one half would have Friday, December 26, but the library would be open for business. These are always times of heavy patronage for us. As a replacement for the 12th holiday, each staff could choose one other single day, but not one added to regular vacation days. The day before Christmas is always a very slow day while Election Day is one with normal usage, perhaps even increased since we are a polling place now. Hello
